We love San Francisco. It’s beautiful, the weather is amazing, and it’s very similar to NYC in what it offers but it seems like you get a little more here … more apartment, more sunshine, more accessibility to mountains, beaches, and National Parks. Sooooo … we decided to stop traveling and put down our anchor here! The decision was very whirlwind and everything came together quickly. We were with some good friends (another factor in making this decision easier) and realized this town was a good fit for us as a new home. We started looking for an apartment and within four days we had the keys and were spending our first night in our new home (last night!).
It’s a wonderful little place for us in the North Beach neighborhood and we have a great little balcony that gives us a view to the San Francisco Bay. For the past day we’ve been using everything from the RV to “camp” in the apartment and it’s working out great. The RV will be stored until we can get back out there in the spring (anyone with recommendations on nearby places, please let us know).
In our first day living here we’re starting to figure out the city. How do you pay for the BART? What’s recyclable and what’s not? How do we get one of those Safeway discount cards? It’s all exciting and fun.
Thank you to everyone who followed our big trip around America. We may still post new stuff on our continued journey and reflections on what we accomplished in the past five months. It has been a blast and we’ll be sorting through the souvenirs and photos for a while!
