Just because we don’t have the RV yet doesn’t mean we can’t start our adventure. Yesterday we had a great day in Wisconsin and visited Dr. Evermor’s Art Park. This amazing sculpture park is about 10 miles south of Baraboo. It’s packed with whimsical creatures and machines made from a huge variety of salvaged metal.
The highlight of the park is the Forevertron — the world’s largest scrap metal sculpture. It’s 120′ wide, 60′ deep and 50′ tall.
This place is amazing and immense. I’d put it on the “must see” list for Wisconsin. After the visit, we headed into Sauk City for some homemade pie at Leystra’s Restaurant. It was amazing, and like $2.80 a slice. Everything seems so incredibly inexpensive once you leave NYC — go figure.
Afterwards we headed into Madison to visit a friend’s house. A highlight of the evening was at a nearby house where some critters are living in the roof. We saw mamma and babies checking things out in the early evening.
These guys were too cute! We also enjoyed the first marshmallow roast of the season and fajitas on the grill (note to self: get a grill skillet). All in all, this day was the perfect kick-off to our travel adventure.
